5 Things Customers Bought the Heck Out Of: August 2026

BYRD Daily Hair System, Purifying Shampoo and Lightweight Conditioner Blu Atlas Hair Strengthening System, Shampoo and Conditioner PrettyBoy Revival Moisturizer

August was our best month of 2026. Thank you.

That's two short sentences that mean so much. And it happened because a lot of men found us for the first time and a lot of you came back for a second bottle.

The products you come back for are not the impressive ones. They're the ones that slot into something you were already doing. Shampoo. Face wash. The moisturizer that goes on right after. Looking at what men reorder here and it's almost entirely things you use standing in the same spot, at the same time, without thinking about it.

We don't think that's a verdict on the products that don't get reordered. Actually, we've talked to enough guys about this and a pretty consistent story emerged: the product was great, the habit to use it not-so-much.

The guy reordering the serum, for example, told me he loves it. Same for the guy who bought it 6-months ago and never re-ordered. The difference is tha the guy who didn't reorder just never developed the new habit to use it.

This aligns with what we've said since day one: to get into your hands the best version of the product you'll actually use.

If that's a good shampoo and a good face wash, then that's a real routine and you're doing fine. That serum probably would do more for your face than your cleanser does. But it will also do absolutely nothing from a shelf.

If you're standing in your bathroom wondering where to start, don't build a system. Fix whatever annoys you most. The rest will suggest itself.

Here's what rose to the top.

BYRD Daily Hair System

Purifying Shampoo and Lightweight Conditioner, and It Wasn't Close

BYRD Daily Hair System, Purifying Shampoo and Lightweight Conditioner
Gentle & great

Noticing my hair coming back to life.

— Anonymous

Why You Bought It

These two didn't land at the top by accident. BYRD is our Best Overall pick in the best shampoos and conditioners guide, and August was the month a whole lot of you read that, agreed, and bought it. That guide is doing more work than anything else we publish.

The two of them keep traveling together, which is the part worth paying attention to. New customers and returning ones did the same thing without being told to. When men decide to fix their hair, they seem to understand instinctively that you can't fix half of it.

Built well

The shampoo clears out product buildup, salt, sweat, and oil without stripping the scalp raw. The conditioner is built to soften and detangle without weight, which matters if your hair is fine or if you style it the next morning.

Delivers on its promise

A clean scalp and hair that still moves. The conditioner rinses fully, so you don't wake up with roots that look flat before you've started.

Confidence-boosting

Most men's hair problems are wash problems. Fix the two products you use every single day and you've fixed more than any styling product will.

Blu Atlas Hair Strengthening System

Last Month the Shampoo Showed Up Alone. This Month It Brought a Partner.

Blu Atlas Hair Strengthening System, Shampoo and Conditioner
Love this for my 14 year old son! He would always have stinky hair. It would drive me crazy. This shampoo smells amazing and no more stinky hair!

— Tricia

Why You Bought It

Same story, different problem. Blu Atlas is our pick in two places in that same guide: best for dandruff and a flaky scalp, and the budget pick for thinning or shedding hair. Men are arriving with a specific complaint, finding the pick that matches it, and buying that one. That's exactly what a guide is supposed to do.

Worth repeating what the guide also says, since we'd rather you hear it here than feel misled later. If your thinning is noticeable rather than early, we point you past this to Patricks SH1, which costs considerably more and does considerably more. Blu Atlas is the right first move, not the strongest one.

Built well

Made with saw palmetto and vegan biotin, formulated for men thinking about density and scalp health rather than just getting clean. Sulfate free, so it won't strip a scalp that's already touchy.

Delivers on its promise

It lathers properly, which sounds trivial until you've used a sulfate free shampoo that doesn't. The conditioner does the rest of the job without leaving weight behind.

Confidence-boosting

Nobody wants a product on the shelf that announces they're worried about their hair. This one just looks like shampoo.

PrettyBoy Revival Moisturizer

The Skin Product That Held Its Ground

PrettyBoy Revival Moisturizer
Been using this product for a month now and it has made a huge difference in my face. Has cut down the redness and helps control acne

— Harold G.

Why You Bought It

This is the most consistent product in the store, and it isn't close. Month after month, roughly the same number of men buy it. Categories around it rise and fall with the weather. This one just sits there doing its job, and in a month that belonged almost entirely to hair, it placed highest of anything for your face.

Most men buy it on their very first order here, which tells you what it's actually competing with. It isn't adding a step to your routine. It's replacing whatever has been sitting in your medicine cabinet.

Built well

A daily moisturizer built for men who want hydration without a heavy finish, and formulated to be used morning or night without a second thought.

Delivers on its promise

It absorbs rather than sitting on top, and it doesn't leave shine behind. For most men moisturizer is the step that either sticks or gets abandoned in a week, and the ones that stick are the ones don't make you shine.

Confidence-boosting

Skin that looks awake instead of dry and tired. That's the entire return on a ten second habit.

Heath Post Shave Repair

Further Down the List, Still in the Rotation

Heath Post Shave Repair
Wonderful for sensitive skin

Great product: very soothing, not oily, great smell.

— Anonymous

Why You Bought It

Post Shave Repair topped this list in April and has been at or near the top ever since. This month it isn't. It didn't slow down. Everything around it sped up, and shave is a quieter category in August than it is in February.

We're saying that out loud because a list like this is only useful if it also tells you when something moved the other direction. This is still the product we point to when a man asks what's actually worth buying, and it will be back near the top when the weather turns cold.

Built well

Made with allantoin and aloe to calm skin immediately after the blade. Pollustop and ginseng build a breathable barrier against everything your face runs into for the rest of the day. No alcohol, so no sting.

Delivers on its promise

Redness settles. Skin feels cool and balanced rather than tight, and it absorbs fast enough that you can put moisturizer or SPF on top without standing around waiting.

Confidence-boosting

Walking out of the bathroom without a red neck. Small thing, until you've spent a decade with it.

Tribal Chimp Hair Styling Powder

The Only One on This List That Doesn't Happen in the Shower

Tribal Chimp Hair Styling Powder
My son loves how this product gives him a natural "beach look" without any stickiness or residue.

— Suzanne C.

Why You Bought It

Every other product on this list is something you use in the shower. This one is the exception, and it has quietly held a spot near the top for months now.

Styling powder is one of those products men either haven't heard of or swear by, with very little in between. The ones who find it tend to be guys whose hair goes flat by noon and who have already tried three pomades that made it worse.

Built well

A dry powder that adds grip and volume at the root without the weight of a wax or a cream. You use a very small amount, which is why a single container lasts a long time.

Delivers on its promise

Lift that holds through the day, and a matte finish rather than a shine. It also doesn't leave your hair feeling coated, so you're not fighting to wash it out at night.

Confidence-boosting

Hair that still looks styled at five o'clock. For the guys who have accepted that it won't.

The Pattern: The Shelf Starts Filling In

Last month we wrote that men buy one thing at a time, and that we'd rather read that as information than as a problem. In August, a lot of you stopped doing it.

Single item orders gave up ground. Orders with two, three, and four products all grew. The shampoo and conditioner pairs did most of that work, but not all of it. Men who came in for one product came back for the thing that goes next to it.

That is what we've been arguing for from the beginning. Don't start with more than you'll use. Upgrade the things you're already doing - body wash, shave cream, shampoo - when you see it working you and when you're ready take the next step.

That's the Henkey's Standard in action. One product has to earn the next one.

What August Tells Us

Three things, and one of them is a correction to something we said last month.

  • Hair is not a trend here anymore. It's the category. Four of the five products on this list are hair products, and that's two months in a row. Last month we treated it as a surprise. It isn't one. Shampoo and conditioner, the two most boring products in the store, are now the front door.
  • The pair outperformed the single. The two systems at the top of this list didn't get there because we bundled them. They got there because men kept adding the second bottle themselves. Wash and condition are one job, and you're all treating them that way.
  • Shave is seasonal, and we should just say so. Post Shave Repair didn't get worse. August did. Razor burn is a colder weather complaint for most men, and the products that fix it move on that same calendar.

And the absence we named in July is still an absence. Beard products stayed near the bottom all month. They sell in fall and winter, they don't sell in August.

What We Think September Looks Like

We've never done this part before, so consider it an experiment. Here's what we expect based on what happened here last fall, and you can hold us to it next month.

  • Shave comes back. This is the one we're most confident about. Last year, shave products climbed every single month from August into the holidays and finished the run at more than double the share of the store they'd held in the summer. Cold air, dry skin, and a blade are a bad combination, and September is when men start finding that out again.
  • Beard wakes up. Same window, same direction. Beard care went from almost nothing in August to a real part of the mix by October. Some of that is weather and some of it is that men the cooler months are the hairy months.
  • Hair gives up some ground, and that's fine. Not because shampoo will slow down, but because everything else is about to wake up around it. Hair has been taking an unusually large share of what we sell for two months running. We'd expect the shelf to even out.

Ask us in October how we did.

Every product earned its place.
Every month tells us a little more about what men really want.

Confidence is built.
